I know you’re probably wondering what’s going on and why we’ve been off and on the last month and a half. Well, we have 3 kids and a busy schedule with them. We are, as you know, family owned and run by mom and dad. That creates schedule conflicts sometimes and as much as we hate not being open (this is our income after all) we have to put our family first. Back to school week really threw a kink in as we now have a 6th, 8th, and 10th grader, that are all involved in something or another. We are working hard to arrange schedules and work with everyone so they can enjoy their childhood and have awesome experiences while we work and get to participate some too. And sure, we could hire people to run the truck, but I pride myself in the fact that I cook from scratch daily. Authentic recipes like I was taught by my family growing up. I don’t want to risk the quality and experience we provide for you with hourly workers that don’t feel the same connections. Maybe if we ever make it to a restaurant I’ll find the right people to teach and grow with as a team. Until then we’ve been blessed with such an understanding and supportive community that we can’t thank everyone enough. That being said, I wanted to give a quick update on what’s coming, going on, etc.
Yes, yes, yes! I am almost finished with our online ordering system and hope that it’ll work without too many problems! That means you’ll get to order online for pickup – if it’s delivery you can still order online, but I’d recommend calling ahead to see if we can deliver, because if you don’t it may be a while. Luke can’t leave to deliver if we have a line outside of the truck 😉 Hopefully, that’ll make it easier for y’all too! I am so excited about this and can’t wait to get it up and running this weekend.
School & Business Orders
I am so thrilled to be able to work with the schools, offices and businesses. Online ordering will work wonders for advanced group orders that we will deliver by 11 am or 12pm or 1pm. We’ve recently introduced a few additional ways to order Schnitzel Sandwiches:
“The Taylor Sandwich” Elsasser Brotchen, Mushroom Gravy, Schnitzel, topped with Waffle Fries, and smothered in more Gravy!
“The Unnamed Sandwich” (I am putting my favorites up for a vote this weekend) Elsasser Brotchen, Mayo, Schnitzel, Butter Lettuce, Tomato, Onion ❤
“Jager Sandwich” Elasser Brotchen, Mushroom Gravy (Jagersosse), Schnitzel, more Gravy
I’d love to get some feedback from our customers on whether y’all would prefer a “weekly special” or a few daily specials a week and if you prefer a standard menu or if y’all would be interested in a more dynamic one where I keep standard items like Schnitzel & Spatzle, Bratwurst and Potato Salad, but maybe rotate Currywurst etc
While want to be in one spot only, to be honest, it’s been slow at times and we do need to feed our family. So we’ve agreed to do events and catering at a larger scale which means we won’t be at the trailer some days. But we’d love to see you at events like “Dripping with Taste” or “Trucklandia” and have your votes for our food.
If you need a smaller catering job for your office or party, please reach out and talk to us about what’s possible. We always try to work with everyone in regards to price but we do have to make a living and it’s easy to forget all the cost that goes into it and the fact that I do import a lot of my food and make a lot from scratch to preserve authenticity.
Anyway, I just wanted to let y’all know we are coming back and are busy preparing for it all. We want to thank everyone for their continued support, anyone that takes the drive to eat with us in Wimberley, and all the kind words and compliments we’ve received since we opened mean the world to us. We will continue to work hard to be consistent and prepared and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
